Brooklyn Nets vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Free Pick 02/23/15
Play Brooklyn Nets -1.5.
I’m recommending a play on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. If the playoffs began today, the Nets would be heading to Atlanta for a series with the Hawks. Thaddeus Young is the newest member of the Nets and contributed in limited playing time last time out. He also looked to have motivated Brook Lopez a bit. The Nets’ center, mentioned often heading into the trade deadline stayed put in Brooklyn. Lopez came out hitting on all cylinders, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 boards in the 114-105 win over the Lakers.
Tonight is Brooklyn’s second post all-star break contest, so the team will be well-rested when they face “team malcontent,” the Denver Nuggets. Whether it’s Brian Shaw’s fault or not, Denver is an absolute mess. Ty Lawson expected to be traded, but was not, and he was benched the first game after the break for failing to return to the team on time. No one is getting along and just a few weeks ago, Shaw accused his team of losing games on purpose to sabotage his job.
So, we have one team just looking to play out the string against another squad that is playing for a playoff spot. And with the line where it is, we get the motivated team in a spot where they almost just need to win outright to cover the spread. I believe the Nets will pull away in the fourth quarter and we’ll recommend a play on Brooklyn minus the points. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
