These teams had an off-day yday. The Brewers, surprisingly, took the series opener on Monday, winning 5-4. It was the Cards’ home opener and most surprising of all was the relatively ineffective start from Adam Wainwright. Milwaukee isn’t a good team and I look for their hosts to rebound on Wednesday.

Lance Lynn was a hard-luck loser in his first start of the season, coming out on the wrong end of a 2-0 decision with the Cubs last Weds. Lynn tossed six innings of two-hit ball, but unfortunately allowed two runs (one unearned) in the loss. He also finished w/ a 9-1 KW ratio. In four starts LY vs. the Brew Crew, Lynn went 2-0, striking out 26 in 25 innings and posted a 1.80 ERA. I give him the edge tonight over Wily Peralta, the Milwaukee starter who himself is off a bit of a hard-luck loss his first start. But his KW ratio wasn’t nearly as impressive.

The key to this game will be hitting with runners in scoring position. St. Louis has been not so good at it to this point, stranding the fourth most runners in all of MLB so far.  But Milwaukee hasn’t been hitting the cover off the ball either as they’re just averaging just 3.0 rpg w/ a .279 OBP. 1* St. Louis

Play St. Louis Cardinals.
