Orlando Magic vs. New Orleans Pelicans Free Pick

I know it’s a lot of points to be laying, but I think this one has blowout written all over it. I think New Orleans is one of the big sleeper teams this season. New Orleans won 34 games last year dealing with two big injuries, as Ryan Anderson played in just 22 games and Jrue Holiday played in only 34. It’s also worth noting that while Eric Gordon played in 64 games, but he wasn’t 100% and should be a force as long as he’s healthy in 2014-15. Add in one of the best young players in the game in Anthony Davis, another capable scorer in Tyreke Evans and the sneaky offseason addition of Omer Asik and you have quite a nucleus here that could contend for a playoff spot in the loaded Western Conference.

As for the Magic, Orlando has no intention of winning many games this season. The Magic added a number of veterans who aren’t going to make them any better, while losing two of their best players in Jameer Nelson and Aaron Afflalo. Adding to this is one of their top players coming back, Victor Oladipo, is out indefinitely. Orlando has little to nothing in terms of scoring threats on the outside and I don’t see them having much success inside against the likes of Asik and Davis. The Magic may be able to keep this somewhat close early, but I look for the Hornets to pull away and win here by 15-20 points without much problem. BET THE PELICANS -10.5!
