|06-07-19||Raptors v. Warriors -4.5||Top||105-92||Loss||-103||18 h 5 m||Show|
Game 4 here in Northern California sees the Toronto Raptors up 2-1 in this series. The Warriors don't want to go down 1-3 in this series either. In game three they were without Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney. Durant still won't play here tonight, but the good news is that Thompson will be back and Looney is a possibility. Thompson is a key cog in this offense and they can ill afford to do with out the shooting guard. This is a game where I fully expect the Warriors to rebound from that poor performance in game three. This is too good a team to not show up again here tonight. In addition, the Warriors seem to play their best when their backs are up against the wall as they are tonight. This might be the closest to a must win this Warriors team has seen this season. I like the Warriors to rise to the occasion. Play Golden State.
|06-05-19||Raptors +5.5 v. Warriors||123-109||Win||100||34 h 39 m||Show|
This best of seven series is now tied at 1-1 after the Warriors took game 2 in Toronto. The glaring issue here today is the injury to Klay Thompson of the Warriors. Thompson hurt his hamstring in the last game and officially is questionable today. Kevin Durant is also listed as Questionable though some question if he will return at all. It's a revolving door in the injury department for the Warriors right now. The Warriors came in at 5 1/2 point favorites. The Warriors miss Thompson's shooting and defense. Thompson says he will go in game three, but how effective he will be is yet to be seen. Thompson is really a key to this game today. Stephen Curry was also battling an illness in game 2. So lots of questions on this Warriors team for game three. I'm going to have to take the Raptors here plus the points in game three. Play a healthier Toronto tonight.
|05-25-19||Bucks v. Raptors -2.5||94-100||Win||100||29 h 27 m||Show|
The Raptors have a golden opportunity to close out the Milwaukee Bucks in their best of seven playoff series. The Raptors took game five in Milwaukee on Thursday and now look to advance to the NBA finals here on Saturday. Standing in their way was the NBA's best regular season team in the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are 10-4 in the playoffs while the Raptors are 11-6. The Raptors know they can't go back and take game 7 at Milwaukee so I look for tonight's to be the best effort the Raptors can put forward. Play the Raptors.
|05-23-19||Raptors v. Bucks -7||105-99||Loss||-107||10 h 52 m||Show|
This best of seven Eastern conference finals tied at 2-games each as the series moves back to Milwaukee tonight for game 3. The bad news here is that the Raptors star player Kawhi Leonard is dealing with an injury. Moreover, Kyle Lowry has also been nursing injuries and these are the two guys directly responsible for this series being tied right now. Leonard is dealing with leg soreness and has to play through the pain right now. Lowry is also playing in pain, but looks to be improving. The issue is that the Raptors have lost and failed to cover games 1 and 2 in Milwaukee. The Bucks have been amazing, covering six of their last eight and 10 of their last 13 games. The Raptors at 100% would have trouble playing in Milwaukee tonight, but with their two stars hobbled even a little bit by injuries, this will just put them even further in the hole. I'm taking Milwaukee.
|05-20-19||Warriors -3.5 v. Blazers||Top||119-117||Loss||-100||10 h 36 m||Show|
The Trailblazers face elimination here tonight as they are down 0-3. They had another chance at a win in game three leading by 13 points at the half. However, a 13-point third quarter followed by a 20-point fourth quarter and the Blazers lost 99-110. That makes two games in a row that they have led by double digits only to lose. Makes you wonder how they can have any confidence in any lead they get, knowing that the Warriors have the ability to come back. Their can't be a lot left in the tank tonight for the Blazers. I'm taking Golden State as they look for the sweep.
|05-15-19||Raptors v. Bucks -6||Top||100-108||Win||100||9 h 45 m||Show|
The two best teams in the East square off for the chance to go to the NBA finals. The Raptors had that amazing finish to their game 7 with Kwahi Leonard hitting that buzzer-beater to win the series. Have to wonder if the Raptors will have a bit of a letdown going into game one here. The Bucks have more rest, having dispatched the Celtics in relative easy fashion. You can make a case for either team here, but I do like the well rested Bucks to show why they were the best team in the NBA this season. Take Milwaukee.
|05-12-19||76ers +6.5 v. Raptors||90-92||Win||100||7 h 47 m||Show|
Game 7 here in the Eastern conference semifinals for the right to advance and face the Milwaukee Bucks in the conference championships. This series has been evenly matched with both teams covering three games each. Philly has covered two of their three at home and Toronto has done the same. Kawhi Leonard has been the star for Toronto, but really has not always receive much support. The Sixers start his Joel Embiid, but illness has slowed him down in this series at times. Embiid played bad in game five with that illness, but rebounded for a fine game six performance where he had 17 points and 12 rebounds. This has been a close series and I find taking the points just too much to pass on here. I'm taking the dog in this one. Take Philadelphia.
|05-12-19||Blazers v. Nuggets -5.5||Top||100-96||Loss||-105||3 h 18 m||Show|
IT's game 7 between the Blazers and Nuggets for the right to move to the Conference Championship series against the Warriors. The Blazers forced this game seven with a win at home in game six, 119-108. As I predicted in game one, these might be the most evenly matched teams in the NBA Playoffs and they have provided it here. The Nuggets have covered four of the six in this series though including two of three at home. A big concern for the Blazers here in game seven is center Niola Jokic. Jovic has been someone that the Blazers have been unable to contain. The game 7 experience goes to the Nuggets in this one and with Jokic being a force, I look for the Nuggets to cover and advance in this one. Take Denver.
|05-10-19||Warriors +7.5 v. Rockets||118-113||Win||100||6 h 10 m||Show|
The Warriors lead this best of seven series 3-2, but they lost a big cog in their wheel in Forward Kevin Durant. Durant was injured in the last game in what at first appeared to be a Achille's heal. However, now it looks to be a calf injury and while he won't play the rest of this series, might return in the next if the Warriors advance. The loss of Durant was the second big loss this post season, as DeMarcus Cousins was lost in the first series. Still, we are talking the Warriors here and they still have Stephen Curry and company left to contend with. And yet the Rockets are a 7-point favorite here tonight. Every game in this series has been close and even without Durant, I do expect the Warriors to be in this game. They could still easily lose this series, but the points here tonight are just too many to pass on. Take the Warriors.
|05-08-19||Rockets v. Warriors -6||99-104||Loss||-106||9 h 27 m||Show|
Houston and Golden State are tied at 2-2 in this series after Houston took both games at home. The Rockets won game four 112-108. Now the series moves back to Northern California for game five. This series has been close, with the Warriors winning both games at home but by margins of six and four. Last year, this is the same spot these teams were in, tied at two, but the Rockets won game five in Houston and Golden State took games six and seven. Draymond Green of Golden State probably put it best after game four. "We didn't match their physicality until the last four minutes of the game," he told reporters after the Game 4 loss. "It's been that way for about the last 96 minutes of the series, so we have to correct that." The Warriors don't want to go back to Houston down 2-3 and I expect them to put forth their best effort of the series here tonight. I'm laying the points with the home team tonight. Play Golden State.
|05-08-19||Celtics v. Bucks -8.5||Top||91-116||Win||100||7 h 53 m||Show|
Bucks can close out their series with the Celtics tonight on their home court. The Bucks, leading 2-1, took game four at Boston to take a commanding 3-1 lead in this best of seven series. Since their game one loss to the Celtics, Milwaukee has kept the Boston offense in check, holding them to 40, 43 and 38 percent from the field. They have also out rebounded the Celtics in the last three games. Moreover, Milwaukee has now covered seven of their eight playoff games this season. Boston won game one of the series by 22-points. Since then, they really haven't come close, losing by 21, 7 and 12 points in games two thru four. The Celtics are now 3-7 ATS their last 10 games vs a team with a 60% winning record. I believe the Bucks took the wind out of the Celtics sails with that game four win at Boston. Boston knows they can't take three straight from the NBA's best team during the regular season. I look for Milwaukee to wrap up this series tonight. Take Milwaukee.
|05-07-19||Blazers +5 v. Nuggets||98-124||Loss||-105||8 h 33 m||Show|
This best of seven series between the Trailblazers and Nuggets is now tied at 2-2 after a Denver win in game four, 116-112. Of all the NBA series currently going on, I look at these two teams as the most evenly matched. That's why I like the dog here in this game. The Blazers have been very good following an ATS loss, going 15-7-1 ATS their last 23 games. Conversely, the Nuggets are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS win. The road team and dog has taken four of the last five in this series. I look for that trend to continue here with these evenly matched teams. I'm taking the points. Play Portland.
|05-07-19||76ers +6.5 v. Raptors||89-125||Loss||-110||5 h 57 m||Show|
The Sixers and Raptors are now tied at 2-2 in this best of seven series after the Raptors took game four at Philadelphia, 101-96. So far this has been a low scoring series with all four games going UNDER the total. Philly has also been a good covering team in these playoffs, with a 6-3 ATS record in nine games. The dog has been a good play in this series of late, with the dog taking four of the last five against the spread. I look for the Sixers to return with a win here tonight. Take Philadelphia.
|05-06-19||Bucks v. Celtics -1.5||113-101||Loss||-105||7 h 49 m||Show|
Boston in a pretty much must-win spot here today as they down 1-2 in their best of seven series with the Bucks. The Celtics stole a game in Milwaukee, winning game one 112-90. They lost game two at Milwaukee, 102-123 and then lost game three at the Garden in Boston, 116-123. A loss tonight by the Celtics and the series looks to be lost. The Celtics do have history on their side in this matchup. They are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 meetings with the Bucks and 6-2 ATS at home. In addition, the favorite is 9-4 in their last 13 meetings. I look for the best effort tonight to be on the side of the Celtics. Take Boston.
|05-05-19||Raptors v. 76ers -1.5||Top||101-96||Loss||-110||14 h 41 m||Show|
The Philadelphia 76ers can take a commanding 3-1 lead in their best of seven series with the Raptors with a win today at home. The Sixers lost game one in Toronto, but then rebounded for wins in game 2 and game 3. The last game coming at home and a Philly blowout, 116-95. Philly saw it's shooting percentage skyrocket from 39% in games 1 and 2 to 51% in game three. They have also out rebounded the Raptors in all three games by a combined 169-142. I like the Sixers here in game four. They are controlling the boards, getting second shots and if they shoot anywhere near what they did in game three, this will be another Sixers blowout. Play Philadelphia.
|05-04-19||Warriors v. Rockets -3||Top||121-126||Win||100||10 h 1 m||Show|
The Houston Rockets are in that much dreaded "Must WIN" situation. As they return home to Houston they are down 0-2 in their best of seven series with the Warriors. The Warriors won game one, 104-100 and then game two 115-109. The Warriors shot 51% from the field in game one and 46% from the field in game two. Rebounds have been a big issue in this series, with the Rockets grabbing 39 in game one and 47 in game two. However, the Warriors grabbed 52 boards in both games to dominate that part of the game with Houston and why the Rockets are down 0-2 here today. I expect this is the game for Houston to pull out all the stops and they will have to hit those boards if they hope to stay alive in this series. Play HOUSTON.
|05-03-19||Nuggets +4 v. Blazers||137-140||Win||100||12 h 12 m||Show|
The best of seven series is even at 1-1 as the series moves to the Northwest at Portland here for game three. Denver won game one of the series, 121-113 and then lost game two 90-97. Denver went from shooting 51% in game one to just 35% in game two. It will be difficult for Denver to shoot much worse here in game three and we shouldn't expect that. "We couldn't make a damn shot," head coach Mike Malone told reporters after the game. "We just have to be better. We have to come out more physical, be ready to play in Portland, and those shots will fall." The Nuggets have done well in this series, going 6-2-1 ATS their last nine overall vs the Blazers. They are also 5-2 ATS their last seven in Portland. I look for Denver to rebound here tonight and get those shots to start falling. Take Denver.
|05-03-19||Bucks v. Celtics -2||123-116||Loss||-106||43 h 5 m||Show|
Game three of this best of seven series moves to the Garden at Boston. The Celtics took game one and with it home court advantage. The Bucks rebounded in game two with a blowout win of their own. The Celtics are a small favorite here of 1 1/2 or 2 points. The Celtics are 18-7 ATS at home their last 25 against a team with a winning road record. They are also 8-2 ATS in their last 10 conference semifinals, 6-1 ATS their last seven and 8-2 ATS their last 10 games. These teams have met twice this year in Boston with the teams splitting their two games at the Garden. The Celtics still do well at home vs Milwaukee, going 6-1 ATS in their last seven meetings in Boston. In addition, the favorite is 9-3 ATS their last 12 meetings and the Celtics are 11-4 ATS their last 15 overall meetings. I like Boston to take this game three at home. Play Boston.
|04-30-19||Rockets +5.5 v. Warriors||109-115||Loss||-105||22 h 35 m||Show|
Golden State took game one of this series in what was a very low scoring game, 104-100. Despite the low score, the Warriors still hit 51% of their shots from the field. Houston hit 42% of their shots from the field. The Rockets are now 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games and 5-0 ATS in their last five vs the NBA Pacific division. The Rockets have also been a great under team. Houston is 0-4 O/U in their last four road games, 6-20-2 O/U in their last 28 games with 1 day rest and 6-19-1 O/U in their last 26 overall games. The Warriors have had their issues covering games, evidenced by their 10-23-1 ATS mark in their last 34 home games. They are also 1-4 ATS in their last five conference semifinal games. Surprisingly, the Warriors have also been a good under team. They are 0-4 O/U in their last four conference semifinals and 5-16 O/U in their last 21 games playing on one day rest. They are also have gone under in 11 of their last 15 home games. I expect another close game here tonight. I'm taking the points with the Rockets.
|04-29-19||76ers +6.5 v. Raptors||Top||94-89||Win||100||20 h 58 m||Show|
Game two of this best of seven series has the Raptors leading 1-0 after Saturday's win at Toronto, 108-95. Toronto has now held opponents to fewer than 100 points in five straight games. It's rare for the Sixers offense to be held below the century mark, so don't look for that again here tonight. Philly has covered four of their last five games. In fact, they are 11-3 ATS their last 14 after a straight-up loss of 10 points or more. I do like the bounce back factor here tonight with the dog. I'm taking the points with Philly.
|04-25-19||Nuggets v. Spurs -2.5||103-120||Win||100||19 h 58 m||Show|
The Spurs face elimination here tonight as Denver went up 3-2 in this best of seven series. The Spurs lost at Denver in game five, 90-108. The Spurs hit 41% of their shots compared to Denver's 50% and were out rebounded 47-55. The Nuggets have not done well in the quarterfinals, going just 3-9 ATS their last 12 tries. They are also 4-10 ATS their last 14 on one day of rest. The favorite seems to have the big edge in this series, covering 13 of the last 19 in this series. Spurs a small enough favorite here on Thursday for me to back them. I'm taking San Antonio to tie up this best of seven series here tonight. Play San Antonio.
|04-23-19||Thunder v. Blazers -4||Top||115-118||Loss||-106||10 h 41 m||Show|
Portland can win this series tonight over the Thunder with a win on their home court. The Blazers split their two games in Oklahoma City, taking game four 111-98 and with it a commanding 3-1 series lead. Surprisingly, the Blazers defense has been the standout in this series, holding Oklahoma City to under 100 points in all three of their wins. Portland is now 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games when holding their opponent to less than 100 points in the previous game. They are also 43-21-1 ATS in their last 65 home games. Portland has now covered six of the last eight in this series and I expect them to close out this series tonight. Play Portland.
|04-23-19||Spurs +5.5 v. Nuggets||90-108||Loss||-102||9 h 31 m||Show|
Denver won a very rare game at San Antonio and it was much needed as the Nuggets evened this series at 2-2 as they return home for tonight's game five. Of course it didn't help the Spurs that DeMar DeRozan was ejected for tossing the ball at the referee. The Nuggets changed their lineup and put their best defenders into the starting role and it worked. But will it work again tonight? I expect the Spurs to make their own adjustments here tonight and also get DeRozan off his frustration pity party he had in game four. The Spurs have already proven they can play well in Denver. I expect a bounce back game here tonight out of the Spurs. Play San Antonio.
|04-21-19||Raptors v. Magic +5.5||107-85||Loss||-105||7 h 7 m||Show|
Toronto took a 2 game to 1 lead in this best of seven series with a win on the Magic home court on Friday, 98-93 as a 5.5-point favorite. The Raptors just failed to cover the spread by a half point and now have covered just one of their three playoff games against the Magic. The Magic kept it close in game three but came up just short. The Magic didn't shoot all that well, hitting 36.3% from the field and 29.5% from beyond the arc. What kept them close was free throws, as they had made 22 of 23 compared to just 9 of 10 by the Raptors. We get the same line here in game four and I expect another low scoring, close game. The Magic can regain home court with a win here tonight and I fully expect an all out effort from them to keep from going down 1-3. Play the Magic plus the points.
|04-21-19||Warriors -9 v. Clippers||113-105||Loss||-109||4 h 37 m||Show|
Golden State looks to take a commanding 3-1 lead today with a win over the Clippers. After the Warriors gave up that huge lead in a game two loss on their home court, they rebounded in game three at the Staple's center in LA, 132-105. The Clippers may have awoken a sleeping giant after that shocking game two come-from-behind win. Golden State his 54.% from the field in game three and 42.9% from beyond the 3-point arc. Compare that to just 37.2% for the Clips and 21.9% from three-point land. There was some question to how the Warriors would play without star forward DeMarcus Cousins, who was lost for the playoffs with a quad injury in game 2. They quieted those critics with that huge game three performance. The Warriors do well on two days rest, going 6-0 ATS their last six times. They are also 28-10 ATS now in their last 38 quarterfinal games. The Clippers are only 4-10 ATS in their last 14 quarterfinal games and 1-6 ATS their last seven overall. In addition, they are 1-9 ATS their last 10 following a double-digit home loss. I look for another big effort today out of the Warriors who want to wrap up this series as quickly as possible. Play Golden State minus the points.
|04-20-19||Bucks -8.5 v. Pistons||Top||119-103||Win||100||20 h 57 m||Show|
The Milwaukee Bucks are showing just why they were the best team in the NBA this regular season with 60 wins. The Bucks have pretty much just rolled right over the Pistons here in this series and would like nothing better than a 4-0 sweep and some down time. The Bucks stingy defense took game one by 35 points (121-86) and then again in game two by a 120-99 margin. Of course it doesn't help that the Pistons have been without one of their best players in F Blake Griffin who missed game two with knee injury. Griffin is doubtful for game three here tonight and that really hurts this Detroit club. The Bucks are now 5-0-1 ATS their last six against the Pistons. I don't see much chance for the Pistons here in game three. Play Milwaukee.
|04-20-19||Nuggets v. Spurs -3.5||Top||117-103||Loss||-107||7 h 36 m||Show|
Spurs look to take a commanding 3-1 lead after tonight's contest at home against Denver. The Spurs won their last game against Denver at home, 118-108 as a 4.5-point favorite. Right now the Spurs are winning the back-court battle as their guard duo of Derrick White and DeMar DeRozan are playing the better ball. DeRozan and White combined for 61 points in game three. The Nuggets have now lost 14 straight games at San Antonio dating back to 2012. The Nuggets will have to find a way to win at San Antonio if they want to advance in these playoffs, something they haven't been able to do in seven years. The games have been close in the 4th, but the Spurs experience seems to be winning the day. Take San Antonio again here on Saturday.
|04-19-19||Celtics v. Pacers -2.5||Top||104-96||Loss||-110||8 h 22 m||Show|
Boston brings a 2-0 lead in this best of seven series back to Indiana for game three tonight. However, they could and really should be tied 1-1. The Pacers had one of the biggest spread collapses I've seen in ages in game two. Up by 1-point with just about 60 seconds to play, the Pacers turned the ball over and fouled their way to a 8-point loss and improbable Boston cover of the 7 or 7.5 points line. It was the most amazing fold I've seen in some time in regards to a spread. That being said, what effect will that have on the Pacers tonight. They are obviously in a must win position as they can't go down 0-3 with any hopes of winning this series. So I expect a full out effort here tonight. But will that game two collapse carry over to tonight? I don't think so. You have to have a short memory in sports and put those games behind you. The Pacers know they can get right back into this series with wins on their home court. It's now or never Indiana. Take the Pacers here in game three.
|04-19-19||Raptors v. Magic +5.5||98-93||Win||100||7 h 52 m||Show|
The Orlando Magic escaped from Toronto with a 1-1 split, which means they currently have home court in this series with the best team in the East. The Magic stole game one in Toronto, 104-101 as a 9.5-point dog. They were then beat soundly in game two, 82-111 as a 10.5-point dog. Tonight, the Magic are 5-point dogs at home. The Magic have been very good at covering lately, going 5-1 ATS their last six games and 11-4 ATS their last 15 games. The Magic look to improve on their game two shooting of just 37% from the field and 26.5% from beyond the 3-point arc. Important game here for the Magic. They don't want to lose home court and so I expect their best effort tonight. I'll take the 5-points with Orlando tonight. Play Orlando.
|04-18-19||76ers v. Nets +3||Top||131-115||Loss||-104||34 h 33 m||Show|
This best of seven series tied at one game apiece after Philadelphia rebounded for a win in game two. The venue changes to Brooklyn here for game three tonight, the first time a postseason basketball game has been in New York in four years. The Nets allowed Philly to score a NBA record tying 51 third quarter points. Still, Brooklyn got what they wanted, a split in Philly. The Sixers are a 3-point road dog right now in this game three contest. Philly is just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games and 1-4 ATS their last five times with 2 days rest. The Sixers are also 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. Meanwhile, the Nets are 16-5 ATS their last 21 games playing on two-days rest and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 conference quarterfinal contest. Brooklyn has covered four of the last five with Philly and with a packed-house and a raucous crowd expected here tonight, I'm taking the Nets in game three.
|04-17-19||Pistons v. Bucks -15||99-120||Win||100||5 h 16 m||Show|
Milwaukee leads this best of seven series with the Detroit Pistons, 1-0. Game two here tonight from Milwaukee as the Bucks look to take a 2-0 lead back to the Motor City. It was an easy game one for the Bucks, as they beat Detroit in game one 121-86. The Bucks are a favorite to reach the NBA finals this year and look all the part after their blowout win in game one. The Pistons have now lost 11 straight playoff games dating back to 2008. Star player Blake Griffin may not be available tonight for the Pistons, which will make their task to win a playoff game even more daunting. Griffin is day-to-day, though some expect him to miss this series. Either way, with or without Griffin, the Bucks are just too good this year and the Pistons will continue their losing playoff streak. Take the Bucks tonight.
|04-17-19||Pacers +7.5 v. Celtics||91-99||Loss||-100||4 h 15 m||Show|
The Pacers will look to steal game two here tonight at Boston and go back to Indiana with home court advantage. Game one was a defensive battle as the Celtics took the opener, 84-74 as a 7 1/2-point home favorite. Both teams had a tough night shooting the ball, with Boston hitting 36% and the Pacers 33%. The Pacers held a 45-38 halftime advantage, but couldn't hold it in the second half getting outscored 46-29. This series is always been a low scoring, defensive battle between these clubs. I don't expect anything different here tonight. That always makes playing the favorite difficult when they laying 7.5 points as the Celtics are again tonight. I expect the Pacers to keep this game close and I won't be surprised by an outright Indiana win. Play the PACERS.
|04-16-19||Thunder +2 v. Blazers||94-114||Loss||-108||21 h 11 m||Show|
Portland leads this best of seven series with the Thunder, 1-0. Oklahoma City was down big in the 1st quarter and much of the first half, but they rallied and almost covered the 3 1/2 point line, losing 99-104. Portland was red hot in the first quarter, but cooled down after that hitting just 42% from the field for the game. The Blazers have not historically done well in these quarterfinal games, going 8-24-2 ATS their last 34 times. This is a rebound game here for the Thunder and I look for a very good effort from OKC here in game two so that they can avoid going down 0-2 in the series. Play Oklahoma City.
|04-16-19||Spurs v. Nuggets -6.5||Top||105-114||Win||100||20 h 36 m||Show|
Denver in a must win spot here just to salvage a split in the first two games of this series with the Spurs. The first game was low scoring, just as I gave out as the Spurs won 101-96. The Nuggets only hit 42% from the field in game one while giving up 48% of their defensive shots. I won't be going under here because I look for Denver to kick up the pace and not let this game become bogged-down like what happened in game one. Denver had a big regular season and unless they want that dream season to come to an end, they need to take control in this game. Take Denver here in game 2.
|04-14-19||Jazz +6.5 v. Rockets||Top||90-122||Loss||-107||10 h 42 m||Show|
It's a matchup of No5 vs No4 here in the Western Conference quarterfinals as the Jazz take on the Rockets. The Rockets finished fourth in the West with a 53-29 record. The Jazz were fifth with a 50-32 record. The Jazz are 6-1 ATS their last seven road games vs a team with a winning home record. They are also 20-5-1 ATS their last 26 games following a straight-up loss. The Jazz are also 10-3 ATS their last 13 road games. The Rockets don't do well on this much rest, going 0-6 ATS their last six times they have had 3 or more days rest. The Jazz are 3-0-1 their last four meetings vs the Rockets in Houston and 3-1 ATS the last four overall. The Dog is also 5-2 the last seven meetings and the road team is 6-1-1 ATS the last eight. I like the road team here today, Play Utah.
|04-14-19||Pacers +7.5 v. Celtics||74-84||Loss||-110||1 h 11 m||Show|
Pacers and Celtics open their playoff series today from Boston. The Celtics ended up with a 48-34 regular season record and finished 5th in the East. Boston finished with a 49-33 record and finished 4th. These teams are actually quite evenly matched and might be one of the best first round matchups to watch. The Pacers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 conference quarterfinal games. They are also 36-13-2 ATS their last 51 games with 3 days of rest or more. The Celtics have failed to cover in their last eight home games. They are also 0-6 ATS their last six at home against a team with a losing road record. I like the 7-points here today with the Pacers. Play Indiana.
|04-13-19||Spurs +5.5 v. Nuggets||101-96||Win||100||12 h 38 m||Show|
The NBA playoffs begin and we have a great matchup here has the San Antonio Spurs take on the Denver Nuggets in round one of the Western Conference. The Nuggets finished second in the West, three games back of Golden State. The Nuggets only won five of their last 10 games. In this matchup tonight I'm looking at the UNDER. The Spurs have been a very good UNDER team. They have gone under in their last nine Western conference games. They are also 2-7 O/U in their last nine overall road games and 5-16 O/U their last 21 overall. The Nuggets have also proven to be a good under team. Denver is 1-6 O/U in their last seven home games and 7-21 O/U their last 28 overall. The last four meetings between these teams have also gone UNDER. This one has all the markings of a good defensive game to me. Play UNDER
|04-10-19||Pistons -9.5 v. Knicks||115-89||Win||100||7 h 31 m||Show|
The Detroit Pistons lead the Charlotte Hornets by just one game in the East for the final playoff spot with one game to go tonight. That means a win here and they clinch that 8th spot. Problem is, the Pistons need to play better than their 3-7 mark their last 10 games. Detroit having to lay a lot of points here on the road to the Knicks. Will the Knicks show up for this last game? They have lost three straight and eight of their last nine games. So likely that means no. It really comes down to motivation here and I do believe the Pistons are motivated to get this game. It's theirs for the taking. Play Detroit.
|04-10-19||Heat v. Nets -5.5||94-113||Win||100||6 h 28 m||Show|
The Brooklyn Nets have clinched a playoff spot, however they are tied for 6th place with Orlando right now with both teams 41-40. And, they also lead Detroit by just one game, so there is some positions the Nets can lose. Thing is they can't gain any ground, just lose ground. The Nets have won three straight games and covered five of their last nine. The Miami Heat have been eliminated with a 39-42 mark. Miami made a run at the end, winning four of the last five and seven of the last 10, but came up just a bit short. Brooklyn has too much to lose here tonight and I expect an effort out them to hold this spot. The price isn't too bad either at 5 1/2 on the Nets. Play Brooklyn.
|04-09-19||Blazers -9.5 v. Lakers||104-101||Loss||-103||12 h 57 m||Show|
With just a couple of games left in the regular season the Portland Trailblazers are sitting in fourth place in the West, 1 1/2 games back of the Rockets and two games ahead of the Jazz. The Blazers could still lose this spot, but highly unlikely at this point. The Blazers have won three straight games and nine of the last 10 games. They have covered two of their last three and three of the last five. Despite adding Lebron James in the offseason, the Lakers won't make the playoffs this year. The Lakers are in 10th place right now and well out of the picture. The Lakers snapped a six-game losing streak both S/U and ATS. The Lakers have no reason to play this game while the Blazers lock up their spot with a win tonight. I'm taking Portland here tonight.
|04-08-19||Texas Tech +1.5 v. Virginia||Top||77-85||Loss||-103||44 h 38 m||Show|
It's the NCAA Championship game as Texas Tech takes on Virginia. It might not have been as bad as the Rams vs Saints, but a non-call at the end of the Auburn/Virginia contest likely cost Auburn a place in this game. Virginia, down by three with just seconds to brought the ball upcourt and the player dribbled the ball of his own shin. Stopped, grabbed the ball and clearly double-dribbled. Which should have turned the ball over to Auburn and then a likely foul and game winning free throws. The non-call led to a three-point foul and Virginia his all three foul line shots to win the game by one point. This matchup will be a pure defensive battle. Texas Tech has held four of their last five opponents to 58 or less points. Virginia has held three of their last five to under 56 points. This is an incredibly low total at 117.5, so I won't mess with the total. However, I think Texas Tech is the better team and while the line is Virginia -1, I look for Tech to win the Championship here on Monday. Play Texas Tech.
|04-07-19||Nuggets v. Blazers -7.5||108-115||Loss||-105||9 h 16 m||Show|
The number 2 seed in the West, Denver, takes on 4 seed Portland tonight. The Nuggets really are going to stay in this spot. They they trail first place Golden State by two-games and ahead of third place Houston by 1 1/2 games, there are only 3 games left for the Nuggets. Portland, however, is just one game ahead of 5th place Utah and that's a big spot. At 4th place the Blazers host their first series with that 5th place team. So for Portland, this game is big to keep home court in the first round. Both these teams are very good, but motivation plays a factor here tonight. The motivated team has to be Portland and that's who I'm on tonight. Play Portland.
|04-07-19||Magic +5 v. Celtics||116-108||Win||100||8 h 50 m||Show|
The NBA East still has some room for teams to move up and down with just a few games left in the regular season. The Orlando Magic are in 7th in the East, tied with 6th place Brooklyn. However, they sit just a half game ahead of Detroit for 8th place and 1 1/2 games out of the playoff picture all together. That makes this game critical for the Magic. The Celtics are in 4th place and pretty much are not going anywhere. So don't be surprised if Boston gives some extra rest to its starters in these last few games. I'm taking Orlando here tonight, they need this game more.
|04-06-19||Texas Tech +2.5 v. Michigan State||61-51||Win||100||79 h 46 m||Show|
Final four action here with Texas Tech and Michigan State battling for the right to play in the NCAA Championship game. Texas Tech pulled one of the biggest upsets in the tournament by defeating Gonzaga, 75-69 as a 5-point dog. They also beat Michigan, Buffalo and Northern Kentucky. The Red Raiders have covered four straight games and seven of their last eight. Michigan State not only won the Big 10 tourney championship, but they have won four straight in the NCAA tourney, defeating Bradley, Minnesota, LSU and Duke. They have covered three straight and seven of their last nine games. Spartans laying 2.5-points in this game today. You can make a case for either side here, but I like the dog. I'm taking Texas Tech.
|04-04-19||Cavs v. Kings -9.5||104-117||Win||100||11 h 45 m||Show|
The Cleveland Cavaliers won't be the worst team in the NBA this season, but they are close. The Cavs have just 19 wins, just ahead of the Knicks and the Suns for last place in the league. The Sacramento Kings are officially eliminated from the playoffs. The Kings had a improved season at 38-40, but as they sit just out of the playoff picture at 9th, they are 6 1/2 games back of 8th place San Antonio. The Kings are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games though they are just 2-5 S/U their last seven. The Cavs have covered four of their last five games. The Cavs haven't done well vs the West, evidenced by their 6-14-2 ATS their last 22 games. They are also 9-21 ATS their last 30 vs the Pacific division. The Kings do well vs losing teams, going 9-4-1 ATS their last 14 tries. They are also 34-15-2 ATS their last 51 vs the East. Cleveland a long way from home here tonight and they are just playing out the season. Take the Kings.
|04-04-19||Lipscomb +1.5 v. Texas||66-81||Loss||-104||29 h 53 m||Show|
NIT Championship game on Thursday has a very well known name in Texas and one you may not have heard of, Lipscomb. Lipscomb has won 29 games this season, most of those in the Atlantic Sun conference. If you look back to their non-conference games early in the season, they did beat SMU, TCU, Middle Tennessee State and lost to Louisville by just four-points. So this team really isn't a fluke playing in this game. Lipscomb is now 14-6 ATS on the road this season. Texas beat TCU to advance to today's title game, 58-44. The Longhorns have covered two straight, but just two of their last seven. Texas has won 20 games now on the season and really is more of a surprise being in this contest the way they played overall on the season. Is Lipscomb for real? I think they are by virtue of how they played non-conference opponents this year. I'm taking the small points with them here on Thursday. Take Lipscomb.
|04-02-19||Texas v. TCU -1||58-44||Loss||-115||84 h 51 m||Show|
The NIT semifinals move off the home courts and into Madison Square Garden in New York. And in this game two very familiar opponents meet up as the Big 12's Texas Longhorns take on their intra-conference rivals, TCU. Texas beat South Dakota State, Xavier and Colorado on their home court during this NIT tournament, but has covered just one of their last six games. The Longhorns lost to TCU at home back on March 9, 56-69. The teams split their two games this year. Now comes the rubber match. TCU beat Sam Houston, Nebraska and Creighton in this NIT tournament. They, unlike Texas, covered all three games. The Horned Frogs are also 17-7 ATS their last 24 games on a neutral site. TCU has covered five of the last six meetings with Texas and I look for another Frogs win here tonight. Play TCU.
|04-02-19||Wichita State +1 v. Lipscomb||64-71||Loss||-108||4 h 29 m||Show|
NIT Semifinals from Madison Sq Garden in New York finds Wichita State playing little known Lipscomp College. Wichita made it three games into the American Athletic Conference tournament before losing to Cincinnati, 63-66. They then opened up NIT play with three straight road wins, beating Furman, Clemson and then Indiana. They have covered six straight games and eight of their last nine games. Moreover they are now 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games. The Lipscomb Bison play in the Atlantic Sun conference with teams like Liberty, North Alabama, Stetson, etc. They have won 28 games this season and three straight in the NIT, scoring at least 86 points in each game. In fact, this Lipscomb team has scored 80 points or more in six if their last eight games. They had a bad stretch, failing to cover on seven straight, but since are 4-1 ATS. This team can score points, that's for sure. Still, this is not an Atlantic Sun team they are playing here tonight. I like Wichita State to cover this one. Play Wichita State.
|04-01-19||Blazers -3.5 v. Wolves||132-122||Win||100||7 h 44 m||Show|
The NBA regular season is in its home stretch now with team jockeying for position. The Portland Trailblazers are in fourth place in the West, but can still catch the Rockets for third as they trail Houston by just a half game. They also sit two games ahead of both Utah and the Clippers for 5th and 6th. The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially been eliminated from the playoffs as they sit 11th in the West. The Blazers have been one of the better covering teams, going 10-3 ATS in their last 13 road games. The Wolves are just 2-7 ATS their last nine games and 1-4 ATS their last five vs the NBA Northwest division. The Blazers are 38-13-1 ATS their last 52 meetings with the Wolves and 20-7 ATS their last 27 meetings in Minnesota. Portland can't letup now, especially against these eliminated teams. Take Portland.
|04-01-19||Magic +7 v. Raptors||109-121||Loss||-108||6 h 19 m||Show|
The Orlando Magic are in dire need of wins late in this season as they are in 9th place in the East, just 1/2 game out of the playoffs. The Magic trail the Heat by a 1/2 game, the Nets by one game and the Pistons by 1 1/2 games. Orlando could still finish from out of the playoffs to 6th place in the playoff picture. Toronto was in top place in the East, but has dropped to 2nd, 3-games back of the Bucks. Toronto is just 3-9 ATS its last 12 games, 2-8 ATS the last 10 vs the Southeast division, 4-10 ATS their last 14 games following a straight-up win. The Magic are 6-2 ATS their last eight games, 13-3-1 ATS their last 17 vs the Atlantic division and 5-1 ATS their last six vs the East. Orlando is also 4-0-1 ATS their last five meetings with the Raptors and 3-1-1 ATS their last five in Toronto. I like the visitor here tonight. Play Orlando.
|03-31-19||Michigan State +2.5 v. Duke||Top||68-67||Win||100||15 h 24 m||Show|
Elite 8 action continues here on Sunday as Michigan State takes on Duke The winner of this game moves on to the Final Four. No 2 seed Michigan State defeated No 3 seed LSU on Friday night, 80-63. Duke is the team that has given Michigan State nightmares. Duke owns an 11-1 record against Michigan State's HC Izzo, including 3-1 in the NCAA tournament. Duke has not had an easy route to get to this spot, barely getting by Central Florida 77-76 and having to watch two layups roll off the rim in the final seconds. Then in their last game, they narrowly got by Virginia Tech, 75-73, failing to cover the 7-points and 13-points in those two games. The Blue Devils are 0-3 ATS their last three and 2-6 ATS their last eight games. Michigan State has covered their last two, four of the last six and six of their last eight games. Sure, Michigan State has not fared well against the Blue Devils. But, this Blue Devil team looks primed to lose and I expect that here on Sunday. I'm playing Michigan State.
|03-31-19||Auburn +5 v. Kentucky||77-71||Win||100||3 h 0 m||Show|
Even though Auburn is a high seed, they pulled what many consider a huge upset in beating one of the overall favorites in North Carolina. And, they beat them easily at 97-80. This Auburn team is a very fast paced team, they like to run up and down the court and really just ran NCU right out of the building from the start. Now they can know off another big team in Kentucky. Auburn has covered two straight games and five of their last seven on neutral courts. This Kentucky team has had its letdowns during the season, but not so far in the NCAA tournament, going 3-0 both S/U and ATS after beating Houston last game, 62-58. Though the Cougars could have easily won that game leading late over Kentucky. Really you can make an argument for either side at this point, but I'm much more impressed with the wins of Auburn, especially how they easily beat such a good North Carolina squad. I'm taking Auburn again here today.
|03-30-19||Purdue +4.5 v. Virginia||75-80||Loss||-107||11 h 9 m||Show|
More Elite Action in the NCAA tournament today from Louisville Kentucky as Purdue takes on No 1 seed Virginia. Purdue opened with a win over Old Dominion, then beat Villanova and last game defeated Tennessee in OT, 99-94. The Boilermakers have covered their last three games and four of the last five. Purdue has also been great out of conference, going 41-19 ATS their last 60 non-conference games and 9-4 ATS their last 13 NCAA tournament games. Virginia, well, they are winning but not covering. The Cavs opened with a scary game against Gardner Webb where they trailed at the half. Then they beat Oklahoma and last game against Oregon. They have covered just one of their last four games. Virginia is now 1-6 ATS their last seven games in the NCAA tournament. Can't trust this Virginia team laying points. I'll take the dog here tonight. Play Purdue.
|03-30-19||Texas Tech +4.5 v. Gonzaga||75-69||Win||100||5 h 1 m||Show|
Elite 8 action here in the NCAA tournament on Saturday from Anaheim, CA has Texas Tech taking on Gonzaga. Tech opened NCAA tourney play with a win over Northern Kentucky then beating Buffalo and last time downing Michigan. Tech has covered all three of its NCAA tourney games and also 12 of its last 14 overall games. The Red Raiders are also now 8-0 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a 60% winning mark or better. Gonzaga is one of the favorites to be in the Championship game. They opened with a win over Fairleigh Dickinson, then beat Baylor and last time beat Florida State, 72-58. The Zags are just 2-2 ATS in their last four games. They are also 1-4 ATS their last five after covering their last game. Tech has been red-hot covering spreads and I'll take the points here with the Red Raiders. Play Texas Tech.
|03-29-19||Houston +3 v. Kentucky||58-62||Loss||-105||23 h 34 m||Show|
Midwest Regional Semifinals here on Friday from Kansas City, Mo has Houston taking on Kentucky. This looks to be a great matchup with Houston and their 33 wins taking on Kentucky and their 29 wins. Houston won their opener against Georgia State, 84-55 and then beat Ohio State 74-59, holding both teams under 60 points. The Cougars covered both games and have covered four of their last six games. The are now 35-16-2 ATS their last 53 games overall and 20-9-1 ATS their last 30 games against an opponent that wins 60% or more of their games. Houston is also 9-3 ATS their last 12 on a neutral site. Kentucky opened tourney play with a win over Abilene Christian 79-44 and then a win over Wofford, 62-56, covering both games. The Wildcats are still only 3-4 ATS their last seven games and 1-4 ATS their last five after covering the previous game. I'm not convinced this Wildcat team is as good as their record. But Houston is the real deal and I'm taking the short dog with the Cougars on Friday. Play Houston.
|03-29-19||Virginia Tech +7 v. Duke||73-75||Win||100||22 h 13 m||Show|
East Regional semifinals from Washington, DC has Virginia Tech playing at Duke. Virginia Tech opened NCAA tournament play with a win over St Louis, 66-52 and then beat Liberty, 67-58 covering both games. The Hokies have covered four of their last five and six of their last seven. The Hokies are now 6-2 ATS their last eight neutral site games. Duke opened NCAA tourney play with a win over North Dakota State, 85-62, then beat Central Florida, 77-76 not covering either game. In fact, the Blue Devils are just 1-3 their last four games and 1-5-1 ATS their last seven games. Duke is also now 0-4 ATS their last four NCAA tournament games. For some reason Duke just seems to be doing enough to win. It might be because they don't have a very deep bench or they a re just conserving their energy. Either way, I'm taking the points here on Friday with Virginia Tech.
|03-29-19||Auburn v. North Carolina -5||Top||97-80||Loss||-110||20 h 57 m||Show|
NCAA Sweet 16 here on Friday from Kansas City, MO has Auburn taking on North Carolina. Auburn opened NCAA tourney play with a win over New Mexico State, 78-77 and then beat Kansas, 89-75. The Tigers barely got by New Mexico State and didn't cover that game as a 6-point favorite. They did cover against Kansas as a 2-point favorite. The Tigers are now 2-6 ATS their last eight non-conference games and 1-4 ATS their last five vs the ACC. They also don't do well against teams that win over 60%, evidenced by their 5-12 ATS record the last 17. Clemson has gone under in their last five tries against an ACC team. North Carolina opened with a win over Iona, 88-73 and then beat Washington, 81-59. The have covered five of their last six games and gone under in their last three games. The Tarheels held a very good Washington offense to just 59 points last game. NCU is now 20-8-2 ATS their last 30 tries against the SEC. NCU is also a good under team, going under in four of their last five neutral games, under in their last five NCAA tourney games and under in 13 of 18 vs a team with a 60% or better win record. Moreover, against the SEC they are 0-6 O/U in their last six games. I like North Carolina here in the Sweet 16 to cover against Auburn.
|03-28-19||Oregon +8.5 v. Virginia||Top||49-53||Win||100||22 h 3 m||Show|
Oregon won the PAC-12 Championship and has played its last six games on a neutral court. During those six games they are 6-0 S/U and ATS. In fact, they have covered 10 straight games now. They opened NCAA tourney play with a win over Wisconsin, 72-54 and then beat UC Irvine, 73-54. They have held five of their last six opponents to 54 or less points. Top seed in this region is Virginia and they have struggled in both their ACC tourney and this NCAA tourney. They lost to Florida State in the ACC tourney, 59-69 and then trailed Gardner Webb at halftime in the opening NCAA game. This is always a solid defensive team, but they are not the best offensive team. The have covered just one of their last three games. The Cavaliers are also just 1-5 ATS in their last six NCAA tourney games. I like the points here today with a very good Oregon team that is on a hot streak.
|03-28-19||Florida State +7.5 v. Gonzaga||58-72||Loss||-107||19 h 38 m||Show|
NCAA tournament West Region Semifinals from Anaheim have Florida State taking on Gonzaga. Florida State lost to Duke in the ACC tournament but has won its first two in the NCAA tournament. They beat Vermont to open the tourney and then Murray State last game, 90-62. The Seminoles have won eight of their last nine games. Gonzaga is expected to be in the final four if not the Championship game. The Zags got shocked in their own tournament, losing to St Marys 47-60. They rebounded with a win over Fairleigh Dickinson and then beat Baylor last games, 83-71. The Zags have covered just one of their last three games. They are also 3-8-1 ATS their last 12 in the NCAA tournament and 1-6-1 their last eight against the ACC. I like the points here with Florida State.
|03-27-19||Colorado +6 v. Texas||Top||55-68||Loss||-110||20 h 40 m||Show|
NIT tournament quarterfinals action has Colorado playing at Texas tonight. Colorado has won its first two games in the NIT, defeating Dayton and Norfolk State and covering both games. The Buffaloes are 6-2 ATS their last eight games. The Buffaloes have also done well recently vs the Big 12, covering four straight. Texas barely has a winning record on the season at just 18-16. The Longhorns beat South Dakota State to open the NIT and then beat Xavier in OT, 78-76. The Longhorns have not covered any of their last five games. Now they have to lay 5 1/2 points to a Colorado team that is 23-12 on the season. I'll take the points here and wouldn't be surprised at all if Colorado wins this one outright. Play Colorado.
|03-27-19||Lipscomb +3.5 v. NC State||94-93||Win||100||20 h 36 m||Show|
NIT tournament quarterfinals here today has Lipscomb at NC State. Lipscomb is out of the Atlantic Sun conference, which didn't have a conference tournament. The Bison have been a very good team against the spread, going 20-7-1 ATS their last 28 vs non-conference teams. They are also 10-4 ATS their last 14 against teams with a 60% win mark or better. As for the NC State Wolfpack, they have won two straight in the NIT, but failed to cover both against Hofstra and Harvard. Lipscomb has won 27 games this season and covered 12 of 18 on the road. I'll take the points here with the dog tonight. Play Lipscomb.
|03-26-19||Pistons v. Nuggets -7.5||92-95||Loss||-109||8 h 20 m||Show|
As the end of the NBA regular season approaches, the Detroit Pistons precariously hold onto 6th place in the East. The Pistons are technically tied with 7th place Brooklyn and only one game of ahead of 8th place Miami. Orlando sits just 1 1/2 games back in 9th place. So Detroit can ill afford any letdowns this late in the season. The Denver Nuggets can still get the best record in the West as they sit in 2nd place just 1/2-game behind the Warriors. The Nuggets are 7-3 in their last 10 games and have won 30 of 36 home games. Both clubs need to have tonight's game, but with the high altitude and Detroit making the long trip West, I'm taking the Nuggets here tonight. Play Denver.
|03-26-19||Wichita State +4.5 v. Indiana||Top||73-63||Win||100||9 h 54 m||Show|
NIT quarterfinals action today has Wichita State playing at Indiana. Wichita State has had one heck of a late season run. The Shockers only loss in their last nine games was in their tournament to Cincinnati, 63-66. They have also been great for bettors, covering five straight, seven of eight and 12 of the last 15 games. Indiana lost in their opening Big 10 tourney game to Ohio State, 75-79. Then they opened the NIT with a win over St Francis of PA, 89-72 and then a win over Arkansas, 63-60. The Hoosiers have covered just one of their last three games. Wichita State getting four or 4 1/2 points is just too much for me to pass on tonight. Play Wichita State.
|03-25-19||Coastal Carolina v. West Virginia -9||Top||109-91||Loss||-109||17 h 39 m||Show|
CBI Tournament Quarterfinals as Coastal Carolina plays at West Virginia. Even though Coast Carolina made an early exit in the Sun Belt tournament by getting blown out by LA Monroe, they did open with a CBI win at home vs Howard, 81-72. However, they still didn't cover the 11-point line and have failed to cover any of their last three games. In fact, Coastal Carolina is now just 3-8 ATS their last 11 games. Now they go way up in class by playing Big 12 team West Virginia. The Mountaineers opened this tourney with a win over Grand Canyon, 77-63. They have covered three of their last four games. But why I really like West Virginia here tonight is that they play a team well below the competition level they have played all year. I believe this game is West Virginia's to win and cover. Play West Virginia.
|03-24-19||Ohio State v. Houston -6||59-74||Win||100||8 h 26 m||Show|
NCAA tournament 2nd round action from Tulsa, OK has Ohio State taking on Houston. Ohio State won its round one game over Iowa State, 62-59, covering the line as a 5-point dog. The game also went under the 140 posted total. The Buckeyes had a rare cover in the NCAA, their first in their last nine attempts. Houston lost in the conference tourney to Cincinnati, but opened NCAA play with a first round win over Georgia State, 84-55, covering the 12 1/2 point favorite line. The game also went under the total. Ohio State is not a good offensive team with, ranking 157th in offensive efficiency while Houston ranks 28th. Defensively, both teams are good, but Houston is really good, ranked 5th in defense efficiency. Ohio State is ranked 64th in defense efficiency. Houston is the much better team both defense and offensively. I like the Cougars to cover this one today.
|03-24-19||Oklahoma v. Virginia -10||51-63||Win||100||8 h 38 m||Show|
NCAA Tournament 2nd round action today from Columbia, SC has Oklahoma taking on Virginia. Oklahoma lost in the first round of the Big 12 tourney, but did win in the NCAA first round, beating Mississippi 95-72. IT was just the fourth cover for the Sonners in their last 13 NCAA tournament games. They are also 1-4 ATS in their last five games after a straight-up win. The Cavaliers got a scare in round one, trailing at the half to Gardner Webb. Virginia rallied big in the second half and almost covered the 21.5-point line before finally winning 71-56. The Cavs do well after an ATS loss, going 14-4 ATS their last 18 times. They are also 6-2 ATS their last eight non-conference games. Virginia is a top seed and while they looked bad in the first half in round one, I don't expect this to happen here tonight. I'm taking Virginia.
|03-24-19||Liberty v. Virginia Tech -8||58-67||Win||100||8 h 27 m||Show|
NCAA 2nd Round action on Sunday from San Jose, CA has Liberty taking on Virginia Tech. The Liberty Flames won 28 games so far, but that is by virtue of being in the Atlantic Sun conference. Still, they opened with a slight upset of favorite Mississippi State in round one, 80-76. Even with the cover, the Flames are still 3-9 ATS their last 12 on a neutral court. Virginia Tech comes out of the battle tested ACC conference where they have to play the likes of Duke, North Carolina and Virginia. The Hokies beat St Louis in round one, 66-52, covering the 10-point spread. The Hokies are now 6-1 ATS in their last seven neutral site games and 20-8 ATS their last 28 non-conference games. Liberty just way out of its class here today playing this tough ACC squad. I'm taking Virginia Tech today.
|03-24-19||Xavier +6 v. Texas||Top||76-78||Win||100||13 h 21 m||Show|
2nd Round NIT action here on Sunday has Xavier playing at Texas. Xavier won its opening NIT game over Toledo, 78-64 as a 6-point favorite. It was the fourth straight cover for the Musketeers and their ninth in their last 10 games. Xavier has done well against the Big 12 also, going 7-3-1 ATS their last 11 vs the conference. Texas won its opening round game over South Dakota State, 79-73 as a 7.5-point favorite. The Longhorns have now failed to cover any of their last four games. They are also 2-5 ATS in their last seven against the Big East. I'll be taking the visitor here on Sunday. Play Xavier.
|03-24-19||Wichita State +7.5 v. Clemson||63-55||Win||100||11 h 16 m||Show|
NIT Tournament 2nd round action here on Sunday has Wichita State playing at Clemson. Wichita State won their opening round game at Furman, 76-70, covering as a 5-point dog. It was the fourth cover in a row for the Shockers. The Shockers are also 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 5-0-1 ATS against an opponent with a win percent above 60%. Clemson just got past Wright State in their opening NIT game, beating them by 75-69 as a 12-point favorite. It was the second straight failed cover for the Tigers. The Tigers are also 4-10 ATS in their last 14 non-conference games. I like the Shockers here on Sunday. Play Wichita State.
|03-23-19||Pistons v. Blazers -5||112-117||Push||0||11 h 47 m||Show|
The Detroit Pistons really can't improve their playoff position in the Eastern conference, as they trail 5th place Boston by 5 1/2 games. However, they could fall in the seeding and could even fall out of the playoffs. Currently they lead 7th place Brooklyn by just a half game and 8th place Miami by 2 1/2 games. The Pistons are just 2-7-1 ATS on the road their last 10 games vs a team with a winning home record great than 60%. They area also 0-3-1 ATS their last four road games against a team with just a winning home record. Portland is 4th in the West right now, just one game back of Houston for third and two games ahead of OKC and LAC for 5th and 6th. The Blazers are 39-19 ATS in their last 58 home games and 23-8 ATS in their last 31 against the East. This is a long way for Detroit to travel and play a very good Portland team. I look for a Portland blowout tonight. Play the Blazers.
|03-23-19||Villanova +4 v. Purdue||61-87||Loss||-110||21 h 39 m||Show|
NCAA Tourney 2nd round action here on Saturday from Hartford, CT has Villanova taking on Purdue. Villanova won their conference tourney and opened round one with a win over St Mary's, 61-57, just missing the cover against the 4.5-point line. The Wildcats always look forward to playing Big 10 opponents, evidenced by their 11-2 ATS record their last 13 times against that conference. In addition, Villanova has been a very good bet in the NCAA tournament, covering 14 of their last 17 times. Purdue lost in their Big 10 opening tourney game to Minnesota, 73-75, but won their NCAA round one game over Old Dominion, 61-48. The Boilermakers are just 2-7 ATS their last nine against the Big East Conference. They are also 1-4 ATS their last five times after covering the previous game. Villanova has all the experience in the NCAA tournament and it shows with their excellent spread record. I'm taking the Cats here as they have the coaching and the experience. Play Villanova.
|03-23-19||Jazz -10.5 v. Bulls||114-83||Win||100||9 h 40 m||Show|
The Utah Jazz holding onto 7th place in the West, just 1/2 game ahead of 8th palace San Antonio. I'm sure the Jazz want to at least keep this spot and move up more so they don't have to face the Warriors in round one of the playoffs. The Jazz are just 1 game behind the Clippers for 6th and the Thunder for 5th. That leaves a lot of jockeying yet to be done. That makes today's game even more important when it's against one of the worst teams in the league, the Bulls. The Bulls are eliminated from the playoffs with their 21-52 record. The Jazz are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games. They are also 5-1 ATS their last six overall. And, when they have one day rest they are 20-8-2 ATS. The Bulls, well they are just 4-12 ATS in their last 16 home games and 1-5-1 ATS their last seven times playing on two days rest. The Jazz can't let these kinds of games get away. I expect a full effort today out of the Jazz. Play Utah.
|03-23-19||Baylor v. Gonzaga -13||Top||71-83||Loss||-115||19 h 10 m||Show|
NCAA Tournament 2nd round action here on Saturday has Baylor taking on number one seed, Gonzaga. The 9th seeded Bears opened first round with a win over Syracuse, 78-69. The Orange were without their starting point guard, who was suspended for the game. This gave Baylor an edge and they won and covered the game. It was on the 2nd cover for the Bears in their last seven games. The Bears are also just 2-5 ATS in their last seven NCAA tournament games. Gonzaga had no trouble whatsoever against Fairleigh Dickinson, winning 87-49 as a 28.5-point favorite. Gonzaga looked bad in their conference tourney loss to St Mary's, losing by 23-points as a 14-point favorite. However, they redeemed themselves in the NCAA Round one. In fact, maybe that loss to St Mary's is just what the Zags needed to wake them up. Gonzaga has done well against he Big 12, going 9-3-1 ATS their last 12 meetings. I like Gonzaga here tonight so I will lay the points. Play Gonzaga.
|03-23-19||Murray State +5 v. Florida State||62-90||Loss||-109||18 h 10 m||Show|
NCAA Tournament 2nd Round from Hartford, CT has Murray State taking on Florida State. Murray State pulled a mild upset in round win by beating Marquette, 83-64 as a 3-point dog. The Racers have now covered two straight, five of the last six and eight of the last 10 games. In addition, they have covered five of their last seven NCAA tourney games. Florida State won, but didn't cover their first round game against Vermont, winning 76-69 as a 8.5-point favorite. The Seminoles have not failed to cover their last two games. They are also 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games. We are getting about five points here with Murray State and while they are the 12th seed and FSU is the 4th seed, I think these teams are much more evenly matched than their seeding suggests. I'm taking the points here with Murray State.
|03-23-19||Wofford +6 v. Kentucky||56-62||Push||0||15 h 60 m||Show|
2nd Round NCAA tournament action here on Saturday from Jacksonville, FL has Wofford taking on Kentucky. Wofford got the slight upset win in round one by beating Seton Hall, 84-68 as a 2.5-point dog. It was the Terrier's 21st win in a row and their eighth cover in a row. In fact, the Terriers have now won 30 games on the season. Kentucky is the second seed in this region and they also opened first round action with an easy win over Abilene Christian, 79-44 as a 20-point favorite. The Wildcats though are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games. This is a very good Wofford team that will have upset on their mind on Saturday. I'm taking the points with the Terriers. Play Wofford.
|03-22-19||St. Louis v. Virginia Tech -10||52-66||Win||100||12 h 55 m||Show|
NCAA tourney 1st round action continues here on Friday with action from San Jose, CA as St Louis takes on Virginia Tech. St Louis won the Atlantic 10 conference winning four games in four days and covering three of the four. The Bilikens were 6-2 ATS their last eight games. Virginia Tech lost in the ACC tournament to Florida State in OT, 63-65. The Hokies are 8-3 ATS their last 11 non-conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral sites. The Bilikens are just 1-5-1 their last seven against the ACC and I see another ACC loss today for them. Play Virginia Tech.
|03-22-19||Ohio State v. Iowa State -5.5||62-59||Loss||-100||92 h 16 m||Show|
NCAA tourney 1st round action on Friday from Tulsa, OK has Ohio State taking on Iowa State. The Buckeyes won their first Big 10 tourney game by beating Indiana 79-75, but lost the next game to Michigan State, 70-77. They did cover both their Big 10 tourney games. The Buckeyes are just 9-23 ATS their last 32 on a neutral court. In addition, they are 0-8 ATS their last eight in NCAA tourney games and 0-6-1 ATS their last seven vs the Big 12. Iowa State won 23 games in a tough Big 12 conference this year. The Cyclones won the Big 12 tournament by beating Kansas 78-66. They covered all three of their Big 12 tourney games. The Cyclones are also 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine non-conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral court games. Iowa State is the much better team and I like them to win here on Friday. Play Iowa State.
|03-22-19||Iona v. North Carolina -22||73-88||Loss||-109||11 h 5 m||Show|
NCAA 1st Round action from Columbus, OH has Iona taking on North Carolina. Iona won its Metro Atlantic conference tournament, beating Monmouth, 81-60. Iona has won 10 straight games and covered eight of its last nine. However, serious upgrade in class today as they take on one of the favorites to win the NCAA tournament, North Carolina. The Tarheels lost to Duke in the ACC tournament, 73-74 as a 3.5-point dog. NCU has covered four straight and seven of the last nine games. North Carolina eats up this level of competition and I'll easily lay the 22-points here with North Carolina.
|03-22-19||Washington v. Utah State -3||78-61||Loss||-105||18 h 6 m||Show|
NCAA 1st Round from Columbus, OH has Washington taking on Utah State. The Huskies lost in the PAC-12 Championship to Oregon, 48-68. They have covered just one of their last seven games. They are also 0-3-1 ATS in their last four non-conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last five neutral site contests. Utah State won the Mountain West tournament, beating San Diego State, 64-57. They finished the season with 10 straight wins and covering seven of their last nine games. Utah State is my pick here tonight over the Huskies. Take Utah State.
|03-22-19||Oregon +2 v. Wisconsin||72-54||Win||100||16 h 59 m||Show|
Oregon won the PAC-12 Championship, beating Washington quite handily, 68-48. The Ducks cruised through the PAC-12 tourney, winning an covering all four of their games. The Ducks have now covered eight straight games and won eight straight. Wisconsin lost in the Big 10 tournament to Michigan State, 55-67. The Badgers were also 2-4 ATS their last six and 2-7-1 ATS their last 10 games. The Ducks have covered their last five games on a neutral court and I look for Oregon to cover here tonight. Play Oregon.
|03-22-19||Iowa v. Cincinnati -3.5||Top||79-72||Loss||-105||83 h 44 m||Show|
NCAA tourney first round action from Columbus, OH has Iowa taking on Cincinnati. Iowa won its opening Big 10 tourney game against Illinois, but lost the next time out to Michigan, 53-74. The Hawkeyes did not finish the season strong, losing five of their last six games and going 1-9 ATS their last 10 games. Now they have to face a very good Cincinnati team that won 28 games on the season. The Bearcats won the American Athletic conference title with a big upset of favored Houston, 69-57. The Bearcats jumped out to an early lead and never gave it back. Cincinnati is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games. Small price to lay here with a Cincy team that not only won 28 games but won their conference championship against one of the best in the country in Houston. I'm laying the points here with Cincinnati.
|03-21-19||Baylor v. Syracuse -2||78-69||Loss||-110||69 h 30 m||Show|
NCAA tourney 1st round action from Salt Lake City, UT has Baylor playing Syracuse. Baylor was an early exit in the Big 12 tournament, losing to Iowa State, 66-83. The Bears are 0-3 ATS their last three games and 2-6 ATS their last eight games. They have also covered just one of their last six NCAA tourney games and are 1-4 ATS in their last five vs the ACC conference. Syracuse won their ACC opener with a win over Pitt, 73-59 and then lost to eventual No 1 overall seed Duke, 72-84. The Orange are 4-0 ATS in their last four NCAA tourney games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven vs the Big 12. They are also 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight on a neutral court. This game is basically a pick the winner type game and for me that's on Syracuse.
|03-21-19||Seton Hall +3.5 v. Wofford||68-84||Loss||-107||68 h 8 m||Show|
Seton Hall came oh so close to winning the Big East tournament, losing to Villanova in the championship game, 72-74. If you watched that game, the you saw Seton Hall get some pretty bad calls against them. My feeling is that the Pirates could and should have won that game. The Pirates have covered their last five games. and are 19-7-1 ATS their last 27 on a neutral court. Now they take on Wofford. The Terriers won the Southern Conference Championship by beating UNC Greensboro, 70-58. The Terriers finished the season at 29-4, but they did play in a smaller conference. It's difficult to pass on the points here with Seton Hall. They play in a much tougher conference and really could have won that tournament. I don't trust this Wofford team against this caliber of team. I'm taking the points with Seton Hall.
|03-21-19||St. Mary's +5 v. Villanova||57-61||Win||100||66 h 16 m||Show|
NCAA first round action from Hartford, CT has St Mary's taking on Villanova. St Mary's is only here by virtue of their beating mighty Gonzaga in the West Coast Championship game, 60-47 as 14-point dogs. The Gael's previously had lost to the Zags by 48 points before their mighty upset. The Gaels have also done well vs the Big East, going 6-0 ATS their last six vs the conference. St Mary's is also 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral site games. Villanova won the Big East by beating Seton Hall 74-72. The Cats got some good calls in that game and really could have easily lost to Seton Hall. The defending Champs are just 1-3 ATS in their last four games and 3- 6 ATS their last nine. This Villanova team is well coached, but not quite as good as previous editions. I'm taking the points here with St Marys.
|03-21-19||Florida +2.5 v. Nevada||70-61||Win||100||65 h 24 m||Show|
Nevada has me worried because of how they just ran out of gas in the Mountain West conference tournament. The Wolfpack were the best team in that conference, but lost 56-65 to San Diego State. Problem with this Wolfpack team is that they are not deep into their bench and their starters might be wearing down a bit late in the season. That's a good reason they scored just 56 vs San Diego State. The Wolfpack also covered just one time in their last eight games. Moreover, they are 16-33-3 ATS their last 52 on a neutral site. Florida won its first two SEC conference tourney games before losing to Auburn, 62-65. The Gators did cover their four games. They are also 5-0 ATS in their last five neutral site games. I'm taking the points here with Florida as I believe Nevada is running on fumes at this point of the season. Play Florida.
|03-21-19||Belmont +3.5 v. Maryland||77-79||Win||100||22 h 13 m||Show|
NCAA 1st Round action here on Thursday has Belmont taking on Maryland. Belmont won their play-in game on Tuesday, beating Temple, 81-70. That was their 27th win of the season. The Bruins have been hot, going 12-3-1 ATS their last 16 games. They are also 13-5 ATS in their last 18 non-conference games. Maryland was 22-10 S/U on the season and lost their Big 10 tourney opener against Nebraska, 61-69. It was the team's third loss in four games. In addition they are just 1-3 ATS their last four. The Terapins are also 2-6 ATS their last eight games on a neutral court and 1-6 ATS their last seven in the NCAA Tournament. I'm going to take the points here with a very hot Belmont club.
|03-20-19||Arizona State -1.5 v. St. John's||74-65||Win||100||10 h 3 m||Show|
NCAA 1st Round action play-in game has Arizona State taking on St Johns. ASU finished with a 22-10 S/U record and lost to Oregon in the PAC-12 Tourney, 75-79 in OT. The Sun Devils played the Pac-12 Champion very well and could have won that game. They have covered three of the last four games and are 5-3 ATS their last eight games. St Johns ended with a 21-12 S/U on the season. The Red Storm lost in the Big East tourney to Marquette, 54-86. They lost four of their last five games to finish the season both S/U and ATS. The Red Storm was 2-5 ATS their last seven games. St Johns is also 0-5 ATS their last five times in the NCAA tournament and 5-11 ATS their last 16 on a neutral court. ASU just the better team at this point in the season. Take Arizona State.
|03-20-19||Butler v. Nebraska -5||76-80||Loss||-115||44 h 36 m||Show|
NIT first round action has Butler playing at Nebraska. The Bulldogs of Butler went out in their opening Big East tourney game, losing big to Providence, 57-80. The Bulldogs have not done well at just 16-16 on the season. They have also gone just 1-5 ATS over their last six games. They are also 9-23 ATS in their last 32 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven non-conference games. Nebraska is 18-16 S/U and 15-16 ATS on the season. The Cornhuskers won their first two Big 10 games beating Rutgers and Maryland before losing to Wisconsin, 62-66. They covered all three conference tourney games and their last four overall. Nebraska is 23-9 ATS over their last 32 games and 15-5-1 ATS their last 21 non-conference games. I like the host here today, play Nebraska.
|03-19-19||Dayton v. Colorado -4||73-78||Win||100||10 h 37 m||Show|
NIT 1st Round action tonight has Colorado hosting Dayton. Dayton will be treated to the high altitude tonight in Boulder Co, something they may not have experienced much before. Dayton lost in their conference quarterfinals to St Louis, 55-64. Colorado lost in the PAC-12 tourney to Washington, 61-66. Dayton has only covered three of their last 10 vs a team with a win percentage of 60% or better. They are also 0-4 ATS in their last four non-conference games. Meanwhile, Colorado is 6-1 ATS at home in their last seven games. And, they are 8-2 ATS their last 10 games vs a team with a winning record. I don't see much motivation for Dayton here tonight. Plus the altitude should tire them out pretty quick. I'm taking the host, Colorado.
|03-19-19||Belmont v. Temple +3.5||81-70||Loss||-110||8 h 52 m||Show|
NCAA 1st Round Play-In action has Belmont taking on Temple today. Belmont had an excellent season in the Southern Conference, going 26-5, though they lost to Murray State in their tournament, 65-77. They only faced a couple of decent teams in non-conference plays, beating UCLA and losing to Purdue. The Bruins are just 2-5 ATS on neutral courts their last seven tries. They are also 2-5 ATS in their last 7 NCAA tournament games. Temple had a excellent season going 23-9 S/U. The Owls lost their first conference tourney game to Wichita State, 74-80. Still, the Owls do pretty good on neutral court sites, goign 14-6 ATS their last 20. Issue here is that we have Belmont from a small conference going against Temple that is used to playing much tougher competition. They had to play teams like Cincinnati, Houston and U Conn this year. Yet, Temple is a dog and that makes no sense to me. I'm taking Temple and looking for an outright Owls win. Take Temple.
|03-18-19||Pacers v. Blazers -4.5||Top||98-106||Win||100||8 h 57 m||Show|
Portland has been one of the better covering teams in the NBA of late. The Blazers did fail to cover last time out at San Antonio, but that was the second of a back-to-back spot and they were in a tough situation in that game. Portland has covered nine of their last 13 games overall. They are also 38-18 ATS their last 56 home games and 12-4 ATS their last 16 against a team with a winning straight up record. The Pacers are not nearly as good a covering team. In fact, they are just 1-4 ATS their last five eon the road and 2-7 ATS their last nine against a team with a win percentage above 60%. Portland has also covered seven of the last eight meetings with the Pacers. Moreover, they are 5-1 ATS their last six at Portland against Indiana. I like the host here tonight. Take Portland.
|03-17-19||Hawks v. Magic -7.5||91-101||Win||100||5 h 20 m||Show|
The Orlando Magic are just 1-game out of a playoff spot in the NBA East as they sit 9th behind Miami. That makes games like today very important against an opponent that won't make the playoffs in Atlanta. The Magic Have won nine of their last 15 games. They are coming off a blowout win at home over Cleveland, 120-91 as a 8.5-point favorite. Atlanta won't be in the postseason, but they can put a speed bump in the Magic chances here today. The Hawks are coming off a loss at Boston, 120-129 as a 10.5-point dog. The Hawks have been covering of late, going 4-0 their last four games and 6-0 their last six road games. However, the Magic have covered six of their last eight at home. Motivation is a big factor here today and that all sides on the Orlando bench. Play Orlando.
|03-17-19||Michigan +1 v. Michigan State||60-65||Loss||-109||13 h 26 m||Show|
Big 10 Championship today and it should be a good one as No 10 Michigan takes on No 6 Michigan State. No doubt both these teams are heading to the NCAA tourament, but the liekly winner of this game should garner a No 1 seed in the NCAA tourney. Michigan had little trouble with Minnesota on Saturday, trouncing the Gophers from the opening tip and easily winning 76-49 as a 9-point favorite. The Wolverines have covered both of their Big 10 tourney games and four of the last five games. They are also 8-4 ATS their last 12 games. The Wolverines have been a great neutral site team, going 40-18-4 ATS their last 62 times. They are also 24-9-1 ATS their last 34 games vs a team with a winning percentage above 60%. The Michigan State Spartans also had an easy time on Saturday, cruising to a 67-55 win over Wisconsin as a 5.5-point favorite. Unlike their intrastate rivals, the Spartans are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games. The Spartans are only a 1-point favorite here and I am going to take the Wolverines in this one. Take Michigan.
|03-17-19||Cincinnati v. Houston -4||Top||69-57||Loss||-110||13 h 8 m||Show|
American Athletic Championship here from Memphis, TN as Cincinnati takes on Houston. Both of these teams will be going to the NCAA tourney, but a higher seed is at stake here today. The Cincinnati Bearcats are 27-6 on the season after beating Southern Miss and Wichita State in the tourney. Unfortunately the Bearcats are not a good covering team, evidenced by their 1-8-1 ATS mark their last 10 games. Meanwhile, Houston is 31-2 on the season and 20-11 ATS. The Cougars crushed a decent U Conn team to start the AAC tourney, 84-45 and then narrowly got by the host team Memphis, 61-58 yesterday. unlike Cincy, the Cougars are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 neutral site games and 10-4 ATS their last 14 against a team with a winning percentage above 60%. Houston has covered the last four in this series and I expect that again here on Sunday. Play Houston.
|03-16-19||Blazers v. Spurs -2||103-108||Win||100||9 h 41 m||Show|
Portland playing in the second of a back-to-back spot here tonight. The Blazers had to play at New Orleans last night and then travel to San Antonio for tonight's contest. That's never easy on any team. The Blazers are in fourth in the West and just a half-game back of Houston for third. Portland has been a good covering team, but not in this spot, going just 2-5 ATS the last seven on no days of rest. The Spurs are in 6th place in the West, but just a half game from being in 8th place. Both the Jazz and Clippers breathing down their back right now. The Spurs are 4-1 ATS their last five at home. In addition, they are 12-4 ATS their last 16 games against a team with a win percent of 60% or better. The Spurs are 9-3 ATS their last 12 meetings with Portland at San Antonio. I'm taking the home team here, play San Antonio.
|03-16-19||Florida State +8 v. Duke||Top||63-73||Loss||-103||9 h 41 m||Show|
ACC Championship game here late this evening has Florida State and Duke squaring-off. Both these clubs will make the NCAA tournament, but Duke can pretty much assure themselves a #1 seed with a win tonight. Florida State might have something to say about that. The Seminoles are now 27-6 S/U on the season. They have won and covered both their ACC tourney games, including yesterday's win over a very good Virginia team, 69-59. The Seminoles were a 9-point dog to Virginia and scored one of the big upsets of the tourney thus far. FSU is now 8-1-2 ATS in their last 11 neutral site games. Meanwhile, Duke just got past North Carolina yesterday, 74-73 as a 4-point favorite. The Tarheels failed to cover the spread. They are 0-3-1 ATS their last four games. Florida State has covered its last four games against Duke. The 8-points FSU is getting looks awfully good to me right now. I'm taking Florida State in a low scoring, close game.
|03-16-19||Seton Hall +4.5 v. Villanova||72-74||Win||100||7 h 44 m||Show|
Big East Conference Championship here today. Seton Hall would like to win to assure themselves a spot in the NCAA tournament, while Villanova likely to go either way. Seton Hall has won it's two tourney games thus far with wins over Georgetown and Marquette. The Pirates have also covered four in a row now. Seton Hall also does well on neutral sites, evidenced by their 18-7-1 ATS mark their last 26 times on the court. Villanova is also 2-0 in tourney play with wins over Providence and then yesterday's OT win over Xavier, 71-67. Have to wonder if the Cats aren't a bit gassed for this one after playing two straight days plus an OT yesterday. Seton Hall getting 4.5-points here plus likely has a bit more motivation to win this game than Villanova does. I'm taking Seton Hall plus the points.
|03-16-19||Minnesota +9.5 v. Michigan||49-76||Loss||-106||4 h 37 m||Show|
: Both of these clubs heading to the NCAA tournament. Minnesota is 21-12 S/U and 18-15 ATS on the season. They have opening Big 10 tourney wins over Penn State, 77-72 in OT and Purdue yesterday, 75-73 as a 10-point dog upset. The Gophers have covered four of their last five games. Michigan won't be a #1 seed in the tourney, but should be ranked high. The Wolverines opened their tourney with a win over Iowa yesterday, 74-53 as a 7.5-point favorite. Michigan is laying 9-points here today to the Gophers. Michigan the better team, but this Gopher team has already pulled one upset. I look for them to keep this game close. Play Minnesota.

The Spartans improved to 26-6 yesterday with an opening win over Ohio State, 77-70. Michigan State a likely #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Spartans have covered six of their last nine games. |03-15-19||Fresno State +4 v. Utah State||60-85||Loss||-110||10 h 25 m||Show|
Mountain West Semifinals here have Fresno State taking on Utah State. Fresno improved to 23-8 S/U after their straight-up win and cover in game one of the tourney over Air Force, 76-50. The Bulldogs are a very good covering team at 20-10 ATS overall this year. In addition, they are 4-0 on a neutral site and 4-1 ATS in their last five games. Utah State improved to 26-6 S/U and 15-14 ATS with their win yesterday over New Mexico, 91-83. They did fail to cover though, their second failure in a row. The Aggies are only 2-5 ATS their last seven against a team that wins 60% or more of it's games. They are also just 3-7 ATS their last 10 against a team with a winning straight up record. Two very good teams here, but Fresno just covers too well to pass on the points. Take Fresno State.
