Trap Games Jan 2, 2015
A dollar saved is worth just as much as a dollar earned, and sometimes knowing which picks to avoid can be just as valuable as knowing what to bet. In this series we’ll have various handicappers on our roster giving us their opinion on potential trap games for the day. First out is Mike Lundin who takes a look at “obvious bets” he deem to be traps and advices you to stay away from.
Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers (-4.5)
A high percentage of the public is on the Pacers as of the publication of this article, but I’m not completely sold on Indiana here. The Pistons have a talented team, and they’re just half a game back of Indiana in the tight Central Division standings. Detroit looked good in a 115-90 win against Minnesota on New Years Eve and it’s 6-2-1 ATS in its last nine games following a ATS win, but I recommend you to stay off both teams completely tonight as the Pacers can destroy virtually any team in the NBA on their day.
Nashville Predators ML (-110) vs. Carolina Hurricanes
The Preds seem to be THE public bet of the day in the NHL Saturday night, and that is despite dropping four in a row on the road and visiting a Carolina Hurricanes team that defeated the Capitals 4-2 home at PNC Arena on New Years Eve. The Predators have had a rough schedule of late and they’re 1-4 in their last five in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation. Is there any value on Carolina at a pick’em then? I don’t think so, there’s better value on other matchups tonight so stay away.
No game qualifies as a trap game on Saturday’s College Football schedule.
