West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Texas A&M Aggies NCAAF Free Pick
Play On: Texas A&M Aggies +2.5.
The Aggies got off to a surprising 5-0 start this season that raised the expectations well past what this team was capable of accomplishing. Texas A&M as a result was overvalued and disappointed down the stretch, going just 1-7 ATS over their last 8 games. I believe this has the Aggies extremely undervalued against the Mountaineers.
West Virginia received some unfortunate news that starting quarterback Clint Tricket would have to retire from the game due to concussions, which will have them starting sophomore Skyler Howard. While Howard completed 36 of 73 attempts for 483 yards and 5 touchdowns, I look for his inexperience to show up in the bowl game against what will be a motivated Texas A&M defense. The Aggies fired defensive coordinator Mark Synder and I look for the stop unit to come out looking to make a statement against West Virginia.
Texas A&M’s defense had been on the field a lot this year and I look for them to surprise here after getting more than a month off to prepare for the Mountaineers. The Aggies clearly aren’t strong enough to completely shutdown West Virginia’s offense, but I believe they will make enough stops to allow their high-powered offense to put up enough points to secure a win and set a new school record with their 4th straight bowl victory.
West Virginia is 0-8 ATS in their last 8 games when listed as a favorite on a neutral field, 0-6 ATS in their last 6 when playing with 2 or more weeks to prepare for an opponent and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 road games versus excellent passing teams that are averaging 275 or more yards/game. These trends combine to form a perfect 100% (20-0) system in favor of the Aggies. Take Texas A&M!
