The Sparks caught the Aces on a bad night just over a week ago, sneaking out a win during a brief 3-game winning streak. That momentum evaporated quickly in their most recent game — a bad loss to the struggling Connecticut Sun.
Now the Sparks face a much tougher task. Kelsey Plum’s absence is a massive blow for Las Vegas. She’s their primary floor general and shot creator, and replacing her production against an elite defensive team is extremely difficult. However, the talent gap still heavily favors the Aces.
Las Vegas brings the superior roster overall, a significant rebounding edge (especially on the offensive glass), and the best player on the floor in A’ja Wilson. When the Aces are motivated and clicking, they’re capable of blowing out good-to-average teams, and the Sparks have shown they’re vulnerable outside of that recent hot streak.
This line has been moving in favor of the Aces, so make sure you shop around. I expect Las Vegas to win this game by double digits.

Carolina’s DNA: The Hurricanes possess one of the most suffocating defenses in the league. Their structure, forecheck, and ability to limit high-danger chances make them elite at suppressing scoring.
Vegas’ Style: The Golden Knights have evolved into a more mature, defensively responsible group. They’re built to grind games and rely on strong goaltending rather than run-and-gun offense.
The Big Stage Factor: Game 1 of the Finals is rarely a track meet. Teams play tight, physical hockey, prioritize structure over risk, and goalies tend to steal the spotlight.

Head-to-Head Context
These clubs met twice early in the regular season, with Vegas winning both. The first game stayed Under, the second went Over. While interesting, those games carry limited predictive value now—the rosters, coaching adjustments, and playoff intensity have shifted dramatically.

While I also like the value on Vegas as a road dog (expect the number to improve if you wait), the clearest edge is on scoring suppression.
