If you pay attention to my articles, you would have seen that I'm expecting the Oklahoma City Thunder to respond after falling short last year. I expect OKC to win the championship this season. That being said, this is a very tough opening game for the Thunder, playing the opponent that they struggled against a year ago, & on the road.

San Antonio is only getting better as well, with the young talent evolving into stars in this league. This should be an ultimate scrap in the opening game. However, I'm going with the home court advantage considering SAS has won four of the past five meetings here in Texas. Give me the Spurs here.

Marshall's offense has also demonstrated a substantial difference between yardage and scoring production. The Thundering Herd have averaged 406.5 yards but only 22 points per game, suggesting problems converting offensive movement into touchdowns.

The quarterback situation adds another consideration. Zion Turner completed 18 of 27 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns following Marshall's six-turnover loss to Coastal Carolina, but the broader offensive evaluation remains unsettled.

An independent scoring projection calls for approximately 60 combined points, compared with the market total of 64.5. That provides additional support for the UNDER.

The market has moved upward from earlier totals around 62.5, creating a better number for UNDER bettors. The strongest historical system and the independent scoring projection both favor the lower-scoring outcome, despite the explosive potential of South Alabama's offense.

Of note, the home team has taken three straight meetings in this series including Dallas home victories by scores of 7-2 and 6-2. While Boston will have one eye on an off day on Wednesday as it returns home to host Nashville on Thursday, Dallas will be opening a six-game homestand. Take Dallas (8*).
